Strip Tips - Preparing your premises for tile removal

The removal of hard flooring such as tiles, marble and terracotta is usually noisy and dusty. There are a few things that you should do in preparation:

  • Move all furniture from the room(s) being stripped.
  • Remove all items such as pictures and ornaments from the walls of the rooms being stripped - this avoids potential damage and minimises the collection of dust.
  • Ensure that any electronic equipment in adjacent rooms is switched off and covered with plastic sheets, to prevent any damage from the dust.
  • If possible, remove skirting boards, as these may be damaged during the tile removal process.
  • Ensure that all windows and doors can be unlocked and opened during the removal, to allow ventilation. If you have security locks on your windows make sure that the keys are available to unlock them if required.
  • Seal any doorways to other rooms with masking tape (take care when removing this to avoid damage to your paintwork) to minimise dust.
  • If you plan to paint walls, we recommend doing this after the old floor is removed.
Our team will be glad to answer any other queries you may have.
